Equipment

  • air fryer
  • paper towels for drying fish
  • basting brush
  • tongs
  • serving plate

Ingredients

  • 2 tilapia fillets
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or avocado oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F and let it run for 3–5 minutes.
  • Pat the tilapia fillets dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  • Brush the fillets lightly with oil, then season both sides with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Add lemon juice.
  • Place the fillets in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving space between each piece.
  • Cook for 8–10 minutes, depending on thickness, until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
  • Check for doneness and serve immediately with extra lemon if desired.

Notes

Pat the fish dry before seasoning to improve crispiness. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket for even cooking. Adjust cooking time based on fillet thickness. You can add breadcrumbs or Parmesan for extra texture, or Cajun seasoning for a spicy variation. Always check doneness early to prevent overcooking.
