Equipment

  • air fryer
  • sharp knife
  • cutting board
  • mixing bowl

Ingredients

  • 2 medium sweet potatoes
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp paprika (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper (optional)

Instructions

  • Wash and scrub the sweet potatoes thoroughly, then peel if desired and cut into fries or cubes of equal size.
  • Optional: Soak the cut sweet potatoes in cold water for 20–30 minutes to remove excess starch, then drain and pat completely dry.
  • Place the sweet potatoes in a bowl and toss with olive oil, salt, and any additional seasonings until evenly coated.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 380°F for a few minutes to ensure even cooking.
  • Arrange the sweet potatoes in a single layer in the air fryer basket, avoiding overcrowding.
  • Cook for 12–18 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until the edges are crispy and the inside is tender.

Notes

For extra crispiness, soak cut potatoes in cold water for 20–30 minutes and dry thoroughly before cooking. Avoid overcrowding the basket to ensure proper airflow. You can customize flavors with spices like paprika, garlic powder, cinnamon, or cayenne. Adjust cooking time based on thickness. Reheat leftovers in the air fryer at 350°F for 3–5 minutes.
