Equipment

  • air fryer
  • mixing bowl
  • mixing spoon
  • measuring cups

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup popcorn kernels
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 2 tbsp Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon sugar (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 400°F for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Place the popcorn kernels into a bowl and lightly coat them with olive oil while stirring gently.
  • Spread the kernels evenly in a single layer inside the air fryer basket or tray.
  • Cook the popcorn at 400°F for 7 to 10 minutes until the popping slows significantly.
  • Shake the basket gently halfway through cooking if needed for more even popping.
  • Remove the popcorn from the air fryer and let it rest for 1 minute so excess steam can escape.
  • Season the popcorn with salt, melted butter, Parmesan cheese, cinnamon sugar, or your favorite seasoning before serving.

Notes

Use small batches for the best airflow and crisp texture. Avoid adding butter before cooking because it can burn and reduce popping performance. Season the popcorn after cooking for maximum crispiness. Let the popcorn rest for 1 minute before serving so excess steam can escape.
