Equipment

  • small bowl for whisking matcha
  • whisk or bamboo whisk
  • citrus juicer
  • glass or pitcher
  • spoon for mixing

Ingredients

  • 1-2 tsp matcha powder
  • 2-3 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1-2 cups cold water
  • 1-2 tsp honey or maple syrup (or simple syrup)
  • 4-5 ice cubes

Instructions

  • Sift 1–2 teaspoons of matcha powder into a bowl. Add 2–3 tablespoons of warm water and whisk until smooth and slightly frothy.
  • Squeeze fresh lemons to get 2–3 tablespoons of juice. Pour into a glass or pitcher and add 1–2 cups of cold water.
  • Add 1–2 teaspoons of honey, maple syrup, or simple syrup. Stir until fully dissolved.
  • Slowly pour the whisked matcha into the lemon mixture and stir gently until fully combined.
  • Add ice cubes, stir briefly, and serve immediately.

Notes

Always use fresh lemon juice for the best flavor. Avoid boiling water when whisking matcha to prevent bitterness. Adjust sweetness to taste, or skip it for a lighter version. Drink fresh or store up to 24 hours and stir before serving.
