Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C)
  • In a large bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt
  • Add buttermilk and stir until dough forms
  • Turn dough onto a floured surface and shape into a round loaf
  • Using a sharp knife, cut an 'X' into the top of the loaf
  • Place on a baking sheet and bake for 40-45 minutes

Notes

Let the bread cool completely before slicing to avoid crumbling
Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days
For a halal version, ensure buttermilk is pasteurized and non-alcohol
