Ingredients

  • 1 box halal-certified vanilla or chocolate cake mix (dry)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) canola or vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or other mix-ins (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C)
  • Line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper
  • In a bowl, combine cake mix and eggs, mixing until thoroughly incorporated
  • Add oil and stir until a soft dough forms
  • Fold in chocolate chips or desired mix-ins
  • Press dough evenly into prepared pan
  • Bake for 18-22 minutes until golden and edges are firm
  • Let cool completely before cutting into 16-20 bars

Notes

Use canola or sunflower oil for neutral flavor
Press dough firmly for even bar size
Store in airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days
Freezes well in single layers for 2 months
