Equipment

  • air fryer
  • knife
  • cutting board
  • mixing bowl
  • kitchen towel

Ingredients

  • 2 Russet potatoes
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp salt (to taste)
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 0.5 tsp paprika (optional)

Instructions

  • Wash and peel the potatoes if desired, then scrub them clean.
  • Cut the potatoes into thin, even sticks to ensure even cooking.
  • Soak the cut potatoes in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
  • Drain and pat the potatoes completely dry with a clean towel.
  • Toss the potatoes with a light coating of oil until evenly coated.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3–5 minutes.
  • Place fries in a single layer in the basket and cook for 15–20 minutes, shaking every 5 minutes.
  • Increase temperature to 400°F (200°C) for the last 3–5 minutes to crisp.
  • Season with salt and optional spices, then serve immediately.

Notes

Soaking the potatoes helps remove excess starch for better crispiness. Avoid overcrowding the basket and cook in batches if needed. Add seasoning after cooking for best flavor. For extra crispiness, finish at a higher temperature.
