Equipment

  • air fryer
  • mixing bowls
  • tongs
  • paper towels
  • cooking spray

Ingredients

  • 2 white fish fillets (cod, tilapia, or catfish)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs or panko
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tbsp olive oil spray
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika

Instructions

  • Pat the fish fillets dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  • Prepare three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with seasoning.
  • Dip each fillet into flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs, pressing gently to coat evenly.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 400°F for 3–5 minutes.
  • Place the coated fish in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving space between pieces.
  • Lightly spray the fish with olive oil to help achieve a golden, crispy coating.
  • Cook for 8–12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until crispy and golden.
  • Check that the fish flakes easily and reaches an internal temperature of 145°F before serving.

Notes

Pat the fish completely dry before coating to ensure crispiness. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket so hot air can circulate properly. For extra flavor, add cayenne, lemon zest, or your favorite seasoning blend. Frozen fish can be used—just add 2–4 minutes to cooking time and remove excess ice before seasoning.
