Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp melted butter for brushing

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes until slightly foamy.
  • Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the bowl. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  • Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for 8 to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough into a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Shape the dough into a small round loaf that fits comfortably inside the air fryer basket. Place parchment paper underneath.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 325°F for 3 minutes.
  • Brush the top of the dough lightly with olive oil and place it into the air fryer basket.
  • Cook the bread at 320°F to 330°F for 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown and hollow sounding when tapped.
  • Brush the finished bread with melted butter and let it rest for several minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Use warm water, not hot, to properly activate the yeast. Avoid adding too much flour or the bread may become dense. Brush the top lightly with olive oil before cooking for better golden color, and brush with melted butter after cooking for a softer crust.
