How To Make The Best Matcha Crepe Roll Cake – A Soft And Creamy Delight

Matcha Crepe Roll Cake is a showstopper dessert, blending delicate crepes with the distinct flavor of matcha. It’s light, fluffy, and visually stunning, perfect for any occasion.

  • Total Time: 1 hour 30 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon matcha powder (preferably ceremonial grade)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter (melted)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese (softened)
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon matcha powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare crepe batter: whisk together flour, matcha powder, sugar, and salt. Beat eggs with milk and melted butter, then add to dry ingredients and mix. Let the batter rest for 30 minutes.
  2. Cook the crepes: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat, lightly grease with butter, and pour a small amount of batter into the pan. Cook until edges lift, flip, and cook the other side. Repeat with remaining batter.
  3. Prepare filling: Whip heavy cream to stiff peaks. Beat cream cheese with powdered sugar until smooth, then add matcha powder and vanilla. Gently fold in whipped cream.
  4. Assemble: Layer each crepe with matcha filling, stacking them on top of each other. Once all crepes are layered, roll them tightly into a log and refrigerate for 1 hour.
  5. Slice and serve: Once set, slice the roll into portions and garnish with extra matcha powder or whipped cream as desired.

Notes

Let the cake sit in the fridge for a few hours or overnight for the flavors to meld. This will make slicing easier and more precise.
